About Us

Acton Island

Acton Island is located in beautiful Lake Muskoka between the towns of Port Carling and Bala, Ontario Canada. The island has road access from the mainland by way of the Gordon Sinclair bridge and is home to over 300 cottages and full time residences.

Acton Island Association

The Acton Island Association was founded in 2002 by residents, cottagers and property owners from the island as well as properties accessed by way of Acton Island Road.

During the winter of 2001/2002 Acton Islanders pulled together and successfully defeated an attempt to change the zoning of part of Acton Island from residential to institutional. It took a lot of work but it was worth it. It became obvious that we needed an ongoing association to ensure that property owners have a say in matters affecting the island, its environment and development.
